Here’s something I put off doing for a very long time.

Constant Contact announced their Eventbrite integration over a year ago, but I couldn’t figure out why Constant Contact added them as an integration partner or even why I would want to use Eventbrite as I’ve never really been a fan.

I mean, after all, Constant Contact has its own built-in event marketing and registration tools that I have been using for about seven years, and I love them!

In fact, I left Eventbrite at the time I discovered Constant Contact’s event tools because I was paying Eventbrite .99 per registrant plus a service fee, and a payment processing fee every time someone registered.

The other option Eventbrite had was that you could have the registrant pay the fees, which I simply refused to do. I’d rather eat that fee instead of making my class participants pay it. Not a good marketing strategy in my opinion.

As a Constant Contact customer, I only pay my payment processor when I receive event registrations. It is also beneficial that I can easily include my event registration links in the Constant Contact email campaigns — that I use to announce the events.

If you don’t know who Constant Contact or Eventbrite are, check out the resources at the end of this article.

Because I’m a need to know kind of girl, I had to do some research to figure out why I would want to integrate my beloved Constant Contact with Eventbrite.

Here is what I found, why you may want to integrate the two, and how to do it.

What I found out about Constant Contact’s Eventbrite integration:

  • I found out that Constant Contact’s integration with Eventbrite can make it easy to promote your events. When logged in to your Constant Contact account, you will be able to see who responds to your event announcements, who doesn’t respond, and who has opened and engaged with them.

  • I also found out that Eventbrite now charges around five bucks per registrant for my events plus I will still have the payment processing fee. Even with the higher fees, I am giving Eventbrite a try just to see if this integration is worth it for a small business owner.

Why you may want to use Constant Contact with Eventbrite:

  • Because people can freely search for events on Eventbrite’s platform, this is a great way for you to gain new leads that are not currently in your Constant Contact database.

  • You will be able to quickly add your Eventbrite registrants to a new or already existing contact list in Constant Contact. Times have changed so you will need to get the registrants’ permission to do so. Tip: Get permission, on the day of the event, by having all attendees sign in on a sheet that states, “By signing this sheet, you agree to receive marketing communications from [add the name of your company].”

  • You can also sync and import your Eventbrite event subscribers into your Constant Contact database. Remember to get permission from them at the event.

  • Constant Contact tracks your Eventbrite registrations with their reporting tool. In the report, you will be able to see who bought tickets, how much they spent, and if they are already in your Constant Contact database.

Your step-by-step guide on how to integrate Constant Contact with Eventbrite:

1. Go to ConstantContact.com and ‘Login’ to or ‘Sign Up’ for your Constant Contact account.

2. Enter your ‘Username’ and ‘Password’. Click ‘Login’ (or ‘Sign Up’ if you are signing up for the first time.)

3. Once inside of your Constant Contact console, click on the ‘Integrations’ link on the top navigation bar.

4. On the ‘Integrations’ page, scroll down to where you see the Eventbrite logo [the big orange ‘e’]. Click on the three (…) dots, and click ‘Connect Account’ to connect your Eventbrite account to Constant Contact.

5. You will be taken to Eventbrite to enter your Eventbrite email address. After you’ve entered your email address, click on the ‘Get Started’ button. You may also log in with Facebook by clicking on the ‘Continue with Facebook’ blue button, and following the instructions to log in with Facebook.

In this guide, I will be logging in using my email address.

6. When prompted, enter your Eventbrite password. Once you’ve entered your password, click the ‘Log In’ button.

7. Eventbrite will ask you to give Constant Contact access to your Eventbrite account.

Click on the ‘Allow’ button.

8. This will bring you to a page that shows that your Constant Contact account is connected to your Eventbrite account!

As you will see on the integration page, here’s what you can do now that you have integrated your Constant Contact with Eventbrite:

  • Create and send branded emails to promote your events.

  • Import contacts from Eventbrite and sync your Eventbrite contacts, and add them to one of your Constant Contact lists.

  • Create an Eventbrite block in your Constant Contact emails to promote your event by selecting an event from your saved Eventbrite events.

After taking the time to set this up, I realized that though it could be more costly, it may be worth it from time-to-time to use Eventbrite to find new class participants that may go to Eventbrite’s site searching for upcoming social media classes.

So glad I took the time to discover what I’ve been missing! 🙂

A quick note: This integration feature is only available to Constant Contact Email Plus customers. If you are not a Constant Contact Email Plus customer, you can sign up or upgrade here.
